What should I do before bringing my cat for grooming?Your cat will cope so much better if you are able to expend some of its nervous energy. It is not essential but we would love it if you could play with your cat before you arrive. If your cat has any health issues, please let us know before the groom as we would like to schedule a little more time to take extra care of them.

How often should I groom my cat?We recommend every 4-6 weeks at least! Feel free to consult our friendly groomers for advice on the frequency that is most suitable for your cat.

How long does a grooming session takes?On average, it may take as little as 30 minutes and as long as 1 to 4 hours to groom a cat depending on the service requested. The grooming time depends on the cat’s type, size, coat, health, attitude, and previous grooming condition.

Can I stay while my cat is being groomed?Unfortunately, we cannot have you stay with your cat during grooming. We will call or text as soon as the cat is finished.

Will you sedate my cat?No, we do not sedate cats. In reality, very few cats need any sort of sedative to be groomed. On occasion there is a cat that we feel would be best served by receiving medication, we will refer you to your veterinarian who can prescribe something appropriate for you to administer prior to the next grooming appointment.

Do you groom kittens and seniors?Kittens (4 months and older) must have completed their full series of vaccinations before being allowed to stay at Katana Cat Care. Senior cats are welcome. We will assess the cats based on health and history.

My cat is aggressive, do you handle aggressive cats?We strive our best to help each and every cat that comes through our door. We can and have successfully groomed cats with behavioral challenges. As each cat is uniquely different, please reach out to us to discuss your concerns so we can better assess the situation. We reserve the right to stop any grooming procedures if we feel it is more than what the cat can handle in order to preserve their mental wellbeing. Kindly note that there may be a service fee of MYR 20 if we require additional manpower and/or time to complete the grooming service for your cat.

What is your grooming cancellation policy?You may reschedule or cancel your appointment at any time. We do ask for 24 hours notice, but understand when same-day cancellations happen. Call us to reschedule, we are here to help!

Is there a weight or size limit?As long as your cat can fit through the door we will groom them. However, please take note that extra charges apply for cats above 4 kg starting from MYR 5 up to MYR 10.

Is Katana Cat Care fully licensed?Yes. We are licensed with the Animal Welfare Board. Our license number is: AKH(L)-2022-W-27.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?Katana Cat Care has no minimum stay, so your cat can stay for as little as one night.

When is drop off and pickup?Cat guests are welcome to check in at any time during business hours up to 1 hour before closing. Check out time is any time during business hours. Cats not picked up prior to closing will be considered overnight guests and will be charged for an additional night stay. An attempt shall be made to contact the owner in the event that no notice has been provided to Katana Cat Care regarding a delay in check out. However, we reserve the right to re-home/surrender any cats left uncollected without prior notice to Katana Cat Care, 3 days past the allotted check out date, to the relevant authorities.

Can I have my cat groomed while staying at Katana Cat Care?Yes, as long as we have availability, we would be thrilled to have your cat groomed by our certified groomers. We offer 10% off all grooming services if your cat is being boarded.

What vaccinations do you require to board my cat?To protect your cat, we require all cats to be completely up to date with their vaccinations. Proof of vaccination within 12 months of their stay with us is essential. This helps ensure the health and well-being of your cats and all cats under our care. Please bring a copy of the vaccination certificate with you for us to sight on check-in. Young cats are welcome provided they have received their full course of kitten vaccinations at least 2 weeks prior to their arrival and are at least four months old. We reserve the right to reject any cats who do not comply with the above.

How do meals work? Do I bring my own cat's food?While our boarding facilities provide free food for the duration of your cat's stay, we strongly recommend that our guests pack their own to avoid a sudden change in diet. We would love it if you could pre-portion it in a plastic sealed, labeled by day and time (AM or PM) ziplock bags and provide us a set of written feeding instructions upon check in. We regret that we are unable to feed raw and home-cooked diets for sanitary reasons.

What if my cat requires medical emergency?Accidents or incidents can occur while you are away. We do everything in our power to avoid these, but if a medical problem occurs with your cat, we will first attempt to contact you and get your cat in to see the vet listed on record as long as it is within close proximity. If unavailable or if the situation is critical, we will take your cat to a nearby veterinarian or to the nearest emergency clinic. In boarding with us, you agree that all attempts shall be made to save the cat’s life. All charges for veterinary care and transportation will be your responsibility as outlined in the Service Agreement.

What if my cat needs medication?Medications will be provided by the cat owner, appropriately labeled with the veterinary information and directions (no expired medications will be accepted without veterinarian approval). Dosages will not be changed from the veterinary instructions without written approval from the prescribing veterinary doctor/veterinary office. There is a MYR 5 administration fee for all medications prescribed by a veterinary doctor. This fee is per medication per administration. At this time, we do not accept diabetic cats at our boarding facility.

Do I need to deflea/detick my cat?Yes, (even if they usually live entirely indoors). In order to protect your cat and all of our other guests, your cat must be treated for fleas and ticks about 2 days prior to arriving so that it is covered for the duration of its stay with us. If your cat is found to have fleas or ticks whilst staying with us, we have no choice but to treat them and add the cost to your bill.

Do I get refund if my cat's stay is cut short?Sorry! There are no refunds or credits for unused days of a reservation for coming home early.

Can you send photos/videos of my cat during their stay?We do offer a MYR 3/day photo and video text update, where we can let you know when your cat is out and about. If you are interested in this option, please let us know at the time of booking.

Are there any cats you won't take?For your cat's safety and health, we do not board the following cat(s): Aggressive or Feral Cats: We unable to board cats that are truly dangerous, feral who could possibly react with aggression when frightened. The safety of our staff, your cat and our other cat guests is our first priority. Pregnant Cats Cats recuperating from recent invasive medical procedures Cats with serious medical conditions or cats that require frequent vet attention Cats who are exhibiting signs of, or who have recently been diagnosed with, contagious disease We reserve the right to refuse to accept any cat at check in if it appears that your cat is sick, injured, in pain, or if its behavior or presence could jeopardize the health and safety of other cat guests or our staff.

Do you offer discounts for a long-term stay?Yes, we offer a 10% discount on the accommodation cost for your cat staying with us for longer than 10 days.

Can I call Katana Cat Care to check on my cat while they are boarding?As cat lovers ourselves, we know how hard it is for you to leave your cat behind when you travel. We value your trust in us and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
